Most Arizonans File Taxes Online
If you still need to file your taxes, you’re almost out of time. The deadline to file federal and state taxes is Wednesday. For most people in Arizona, that means going online.
The Internal Revenue Service reports that at least 80 percent of taxpayers in the state will file their returns through an online service or directly on the government's website.
"We expect 2.8 million returns to be sent in [in Arizona]," said William Brunson with the IRS. "And of that number, 2.3 million or more will be electronically filed."
Brunson said that reflects national trends. He said about 10 percent of people will also be requesting a last-minute extension, which can be requested up until midnight on April 15. The average refund is currently just under $3,000.
