Hobbs Pulls Further Ahead In Secretary Of State Race As Lead Over Gaynor Doubles
Since Election Day last week, the race for Arizona’s secretary of state has been a tug of war between Democrat Katie Hobbs and Republican Steve Gaynor.
Hobbs’ lead doubled Thursday evening to more than 13,000 votes, her largest lead yet.
After election night, Gaynor was up by more than 40,000 votes. But Hobbs steadily gained as more votes were counted, eventually taking the lead. The lead changed hands several times, before Hobbs pulled ahead by several thousand votes.
Only Maricopa, Pima and Yuma counties still have ballots outstanding. Ballot processing is expected to continue into the weekend.
