Gov. Ducey Calls For Bipartisanship To End Partial Federal Government Shutdown
Gov. Doug Ducey is calling on Congress to find solutions to restart the federal government.
He said Arizona is doing what it can to cover lack of funding as the shutdown continues into a fourth week.
“We’ve done things like make sure the Grand Canyon stays open,” said Ducey. “We’ve also advanced appropriated dollars for people that are recipients of SNAP benefits, at least through February. This is a solvable problem, and if Congress will come to the table, it can be resolved.”
The Democratic-led House wants to pass an appropriations bill to immediately re-open the government.
The Republican-led Senate is pushing for a scaled-back version of President Trump’s plan for a border wall and protections for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA.
